Greetings Families,
After a year of virtual learning, the Todd County School District, in consultation with the South Dakota Department of Education, Department of Health, Rosebud Sioux Tribe Covid-19 Task Force, and TCSD Health/Safety Committee developed a Strong School Plan, which was implemented at the beginning of this school year. It was critical, however, to be prepared for change, according to public health needs.
COVID has continued to spread, but the District has taken practical steps to mitigate that spread while continuing to focus on student learning. We have provided for the physical, academic, and social-emotional health and wellness of our students and staff, putting the needs of our most vulnerable school-community members first.
Each TCSD School considered the education of the whole child - music, PE, electives - when developing their individual plan. Every student has the opportunity for a full year of learning, I encourage parents/guardians to contact their child’s attendance center with questions or concerns they may have regarding any issue.
I cannot thank the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Administration and Staff enough for the valuable partnerships we have with its various departments and cooperative individuals. This takes the education and welfare of our students to a whole new level.
In partnership with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Covid-19 Task Force, our schools will be going into a hybrid schedule starting Monday, January, 24TH through Friday, February, 4TH .

Dear Families,
In-person learning will continue next week. At this time, while the Rosebud Sioux Tribe prepares for a Shelter in Place order for tribal non-essential employees, we believe school is the safest place for many of our learners. We provide shelter, food, a consistent and supportive environment, and intellectually stimulating education. Todd County School District would like to assure you that we are taking every measure to keep students safe and healthy at school. All staff, students, and visitors are required to wear a mask at all times while indoors. Students and staff monitor daily by screening temperature. We have rapid tests available if symptoms should develop at school.
We take this role very seriously and appreciate families' efforts in supporting our goals. We ask that you continue to monitor for symptoms at home and keep students home if they are sick or have a fever. Consider vaccination for COVID for all adults and children over the age of 5.

The TCSD Nurses and Rosebud Public Health Nurses have created an opportunity for students to receive the COVID vaccine and/or the second dose of their vaccination series. Pediatric doses, as well as teenage doses of the COVID vaccine, will be available.
Parents MUST present the student’s vaccination card to receive second dose.
*State required childhood vaccines will also be available to students (Tdap, IPV/OPV, Meningococcal, etc.)*

TCSD would like to thank and recognize Roberta Bizardie for taking on additional leadership responsibilities and becoming the new principal at He Dog school. Ms. Bizardie is the current principal at Lakeview and Spring Creek and will continue to lead all three schools for the rest of the school year. Roberta is a strong and compassionate leader and her expertise as a principal and past expertise opening a new school will be invaluable for He Dog students, staff, and families.
