As you discovered in the Lakota Star Stories assignment this week, the stars hold a special place in Lakota lore and culture. Today, we are going to look at the history, significance, and symbolism of the Lakota Star Quilt.
Directions:
• Watch the PBS video explaining the history and importance of the Lakota Star Quilt.
• Then ask the elders/relatives in your family about any family quilts (would not have to be a star quilt).
• When was it made/given? How long has it been in the family? What do you remember about your relatives making quilts?
• Share what you discover in the comments on Google Classroom.
• If possible, post pictures of family quilts on the FB page or on Google Classroom.
• If YOU have made a quilt, post those pictures, too!
