Have you ever wondered what makes Artists tick? How they came up with concepts that changed art forever? Today we will be looking at a few artists who changed art in the 20th century.

1. What influenced the artist’s work at the time? Remember the 5 W’s who, what, when, where, and why. (What was going on in the world?, Where did they live. Who did they study under?
2. Are the colors bright and vibrant or dark and muted? Examine how the colors are used in the photo.
3. What feeling do you get from the work of art? Does it make you happy, sad, or interested?
Remember when answering the questions to use full sentences.
After you have finished the questions you will begin to recreate one of the famous works of art listed with the artist of your choosing.
Extension: Build a 1-page biography for the artist you chose. Include elements from their life, birthday, places they lived, and some interesting about them. Use this 1 pager to be creative and find out some more facts about the artist.
Paper, pencil, and something to color with (crayons, markers, colored pencils etc.) Don’t worry if you don’t have all of the last three, the idea is that you have something to add color to your piece.
