Metamorphosis: A Change of Form

They say COVID-19 has changed everything and everybody. How has it changed you? The following is exercise is meant to help you generate ideas for writing about how COVID-19 has changed your world..

Directions:
STEP 1: Make a T-chart, label the left-hand column “I used to be” and the right-hand column “but now I am.” You can do this on paper and attach a picture of your work, or you can use the doc called T-Chart & Free Verse Poem.

STEP 2: In the left column create a list of objects, places, ideas that could stand for your younger self before COVID-19. These things stand for the way you used to be. In the right column make a contrasting list that could stand for your current self. These things represent the way you are now. REMEMBER: the more details you capture in your list, the easier the writing will be!

STEP 3: Use the information above to create a free verse poem (lines need not rhyme) where you compare life before the COVID crisis to now. (See example called Teacher Example!) IF you feel inspired, and want to do more, use what you have so far as the starting point for an essay on how the COVID-19 crisis has changed you.
Set yourself a time limit of 60 minutes and see how far you can get. And remember to turn in your work on Google Classroom.
