I dropped by a first grade classroom at North Elementary this past week and found a classroom of children passionately writing position papers (yes, I did stop myself to be sure--it was first grade). Two young authors were kind enough to share with me. Should 1st graders be allowed to have boy friends or girlfriends? In my apnyen i thek lstgraders should have boyfriends or girlfriends because They will be friendLier Then Tenagers. When They sep at tar boyfriends or girlfirends houe they wadet sor up the room like a gondup.because when they gotin to 2nd grade [they won’t be nice]. On the athr hand 1st graders should Not have boyfriends or girlfriends becasue When a boy doset brash thar teth a gril will say Auu you dasca me. Kind don’t have jabs to buy [stuff]. The donthave a silefon. Should students wear school uniforms? in my oPinyin Students Should haveto wear School uniforms because we will hav a name tag then thy wont forget are names. Becuase thy wont have gastr or bad culers. You can sleep in [them] becaus you arerety know what you [are] waring. On the other hand are friend’s will get agerry with us and made because we are wareing the same close. Piple mite not hav muny to do it. if you hav a Buther or a siter that gos to the same school and do the lagy(laundry), your clos mit get mixt up. Wondering how these pieces measure up when using the district’s first grade writing to communicate pieces? Persuasion is not a required genre for first grade, but the goal was to develop flexible rubrics that could be used across general genre categories. I was curious too. Click here and see my thinking.
