Dear Content Area Teacher,
We realize that you have much on your plate in terms of addressing content area instruction within your field of expertise. How overwhelming it must be to find yourself expected to be a teacher of reading and writing as well! Yet, imagine yourself teaching effectively in a world in which your students have inadequate literacy skills. Unfortunately, that may not always be hard to do.
These resources have been assembled for you in hopes of providing you with strategies, activities and ideas for supporting literacy skills in the context of content area instruction.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. It will take a system to create effective communicators able to take on new information effectively, to synthesize and act on that information as well as to communicate those understandings to others. We are all part of that system!
                                                                Sincerely,
                                                                Todd County School District
                                                                Literacy Coaching Staff
